Sin Sacrifices: A Question That “Topples” Torah Observance?
Messianic Jews and other Pronomian (Pro-Law) Christians believe that the Law of Moses is a vital part of our faith practice. After all, Jesus declared that he did not come to abolish the Law, affirmed that even its smallest details would remain valid as long as heaven and earth exist, and urged his followers to obey it (Matthew 5:17-20).
However, not everyone agrees with this perspective. One prominent critic of this theology claims to have devised a single yes or no question that “topples” what he calls “Torahism,” by which he means the biblical doctrine that the Law of Moses remains in effect.
What is that question? It is, Does God still require animal sacrifices to atone for sin?
Has this critic’s effort to “topple” Torah observance succeeded? Should we abandon all this “Old Testament law” stuff? In this video, we consider his argument—watch and draw your own conclusions! (Personally, I won’t be tearing out the pages of the first five books of my Bible anytime soon.)
